Aschwien Kandhai, individual counselor route, Holland team:
'I support and help young people with various requests for help. That can be guidance to an education or paid job, support with debts and addiction or other problems. I prefer to enter the young people's environment. In other words: I like to come behind the front door. They use the same philosophy at Turn-Over. '
'I think it is important that we focus on the talents of young people. Often they have been told they cannot achieve something before they have tied. We break down this negativity. I recently had a conversation in prison. I asked the boy to tell something about himself. The first five sentences were only negative. Through a detour I got some positive sounds about himself, terrible that such a boy has such a low self-esteem. One of my young people was originally the leader on the street. I told him that if you can manage on the street, you can also do that in a paid position. He has now become a trainer at Turn-Over through the project himself. '
'I'm going to fight for sustainability, not just for fires and organize activities. I am happy to help with long-term goals such as work and education. That is why I think Joeri's trajectory is so good. In addition, I do not have all the expertise in-house and I therefore like to work with Turn-Over. I come from sales and am used to working in a focused way. I now also do that as a youth worker. My motivation? I can make a difference for my fellow man and that's what I go for. That Turn-Over is a success is mainly due to the small and practical things. Joeri and Lammert pick up the boys at home. That makes a big difference, even essential. If Joeri is at the door you will get out of bed. Sometimes you really have to put these guys in action mode. "
